¿WHY DO FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS FAIL?
The pavement is a structural package designed to support loads and is made of a selected granular material that meets quality standards. The loads applied to the pavement or rolling layer are transmitted to the lower layers in a dissipated form, providing an efficient and safe bearing surface.
Causes of Faults in Floors
- Soil Stabilization
The floor is the base where the structural package of the pavement is going to rest, so it is important that the layer of the subgrade must comply with the parameters of compaction according to the road manual to avoid that the subgrade can fail causing consequently the failure of the pavement structure.
-Constructive process
The constructive process of the pavements is the most important part where the quality control should not be tolerant, for this reason this step must be taken into account in order to have a better control, complying with the dosages and correct measures to prevent the pavement from starting to fail in a short time.
- Flexible Pavement Fatigue
The fatigue of the pavements occurs due to the repetitions of traffic loads that cause the pavement to go through a process of loss of resistance to load pressures, achieving that the pavement begins to present faults.
- Antiquity of Flexible Pavement
The pavements have a useful life time that must give a good serviceability to the users, after this the pavement begins to fail product of the antiquity and of the loss of the properties of the materials before the repetitive pressures of traffic load.
